Marshallese Interpreter

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate OPI/VRI interpretation between Marshallese and English in healthcare and medical settings
• Render all messages completely without adding, omitting, or substituting content
• Apply medical terminology knowledge and industry-specific vocabulary during calls
• Follow interpreter code of conduct and maintain professional dress code for video calls
• Take notes during calls and facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient speakers and clients
• Complete internal professional training and pursue relevant certifications
• Report to team leader and maintain high standards of customer service

Requirements

• Native fluency in Marshallese and fluent English
• 1+ years of OPI/VRI interpretation experience with a recognized interpretation company
• Solid knowledge of medical terminology; legal terminology knowledge is a plus
• High school diploma
• High emotional intelligence and cultural tolerance
• Strong communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills

Preferred Qualifications

• International certifications in healthcare interpretation (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.)
