Math Instructor

Responsibilities

• Teach 11-week live, synchronous online courses using engaging, student-centered instructional strategies
• Teach mathematical reasoning and interpretation as transferable intellectual skills
• Foster an inclusive, supportive environment that promotes active learning and student participation
• Make real-world connections to help students understand the relevance of mathematical concepts
• Address math anxiety while maintaining high academic standards
• Provide timely, constructive feedback and respond to student inquiries within 24 hours
• Host weekly office hours to build community and deepen understanding
• Work with Teaching Assistants to co-manage courses and mentor them on grading and engagement
• Evaluate student progress and maintain accurate grade records
• Collaborate with Curriculum Operations and Program Directors on course refinement

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
• At least 3 years of college-level mathematics teaching experience
• Strong content knowledge in quantitative reasoning, algebra, and introductory statistics
• Ability to teach mathematical reasoning beyond procedural computation
• Experience making abstract concepts concrete through real-world applications
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain concepts in multiple ways
• Commitment to equity, access, and supporting diverse student backgrounds
• Availability to commit 8–10 hours per week per course
