Modernization Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight and advisory support for modernization initiatives
• Review and evaluate architecture designs including ETL, EDI, API design, Qlik reporting, and ServiceNow portal modernization
• Assess solution architectures for alignment with mission objectives, security standards, and scalability
• Evaluate cloud-native architectures including microservices, IaC, serverless, and containerization
• Provide technical recommendations for cloud adoption strategies (AWS and OCI)
• Serve as a technical liaison between customer stakeholders and engineering teams
• Identify architectural risks and provide actionable recommendations for improvement
• Ensure modernization efforts follow DevSecOps and enterprise system design best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
• IT-II security clearance or current NACLC
• DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification (IAM Level III, e.g., CompTIA Security+)
• Strong knowledge of AWS services and cloud-native architecture
• Understanding of microservices, Infrastructure as Code, serverless, and containerization
• Experience with ETL, EDI, and API-based integration patterns
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical topics

Preferred Qualifications

• Four years of experience in a related field
• CompTIA Security+ certification
• Knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
• Experience with Ab Initio or Informatica
• Familiarity with Qlik and ServiceNow
