Upswing exists to empower the historically marginalized to overcome systemic personal or educational obstacles to achieve their life goals. We partner with educational institutions to connect students to resources through technology and services, including online tutoring.

Responsibilities

• Conduct online tutoring sessions via a virtual classroom using video, audio, chat, and a whiteboard
• Utilize the Socratic method to foster student independence and critical thinking skills
• Support students in achieving their educational goals through subject matter expertise

Requirements

• Subject matter expertise or advanced knowledge in nursing from an undergraduate, graduate, or professional background
• Access to reliable, high-speed internet and a quiet, distraction-free environment
• Reliable laptop or desktop with working camera and microphone
• Ability to tutor a minimum of 2-5 hours per week during fall and spring semesters
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to receive payments via PayPal

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in teaching methodology or instruction
• Experience tutoring at the college level (e.g., math lab, writing center)
• History of excellent academic grades in undergraduate or graduate school
