Job description

Responsibilities

  • Execute payroll settlement including bank uploads, 401(k)/HSA remittances, and post-payroll sign-off
  • Process cancel/correct actions under documented authorization
  • Prepare settlement summary reports for Finance leadership
  • Upload tax notifications to HRIS to maintain state and local compliance
  • Analyze payroll tax variances and reconciliation items
  • Serve as subject-matter expert on payroll tax and settlement for auditors and partners
  • Maintain documentation for quarterly and annual compliance audits
  • Provide technical guidance on tax implications for new-state hiring and benefits changes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3–5+ years of experience in payroll settlement or multi-state payroll administration
  • Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax law
  • Experience configuring tax/settlement modules in HRIS (Paycom, Workday, ADP, UKG, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Ability to translate complex compliance details for non-payroll audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Payroll certification (CPP or similar)
