Philanthropic Director

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert on grantmaking and operational philanthropic matters to guide clients on mission, programmatic direction, and governance.
• Partner with senior team members on client discovery calls and the creation of foundation strategies, including board transitions and next-generation engagement.
• Collaborate with internal teams to build and improve grantmaking tools, such as application forms and outcome reports.
• Manage team operations, including project management, proposal content development, and tracking sales opportunities via Salesforce.
• Support business development and marketing by participating in prospect calls and developing thought leadership content like webinars and blog posts.

Requirements

• Grantmaking experience at a private foundation is required.
• 7-10+ years of experience in the philanthropic, nonprofit, or social sectors, with at least 7 years specifically in philanthropy.
• Expertise in philanthropic strategy, program design, foundation administration, and compliance.
• Proven experience advising or consulting UHNW clientele, attorneys, and foundation leadership teams.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver compelling presentations.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Salesforce, Slack, Zoom, and Teams.
• Ability to travel up to 10% without restriction.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of corporate philanthropy.
• Advanced degree in a related field.
