Portuguese to French OPI/VRI Interpreter

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate OPI/VRI interpretation between Portuguese and French speakers in healthcare and medical contexts
• Render all messages completely and accurately without adding, omitting, or substituting content
• Maintain professional conduct and adhere to interpreter standards of practice
• Take detailed notes during calls to ensure precise communication
• Apply specialized medical terminology knowledge during healthcare interpreting sessions
• Participate in internal professional training and pursue relevant certifications
• Report to team leaders and maintain compliance with dress code for video remote interpreting

Requirements

• Native fluency in Portuguese and professional fluency in French
• 1+ years of OPI/VRI experience with a recognized interpretation company
• Solid knowledge of medical terminology; legal terminology knowledge is a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent
• High emotional intelligence and cultural tolerance
• Strong communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills
• Dedicated wired high-speed internet (minimum 20 Mbps download, 10 Mbps upload)
• Windows 10+ computer with Intel Core i5+ processor and 8GB RAM minimum
• Wired noise-cancelling headset with built-in microphone (no wireless/Bluetooth)

Preferred Qualifications

• International healthcare certifications (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.)
• Additional language pairs or specialized industry expertise
