Principal AI Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship AI systems including architecture, retrieval pipelines, prompts, and deployment
• Implement production-grade Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems on AWS infrastructure
• Build and maintain evaluation harnesses for AI systems, including accuracy and hallucination detection
• Design integrations between AI systems and enterprise systems using Model Context Protocol (MCP) and APIs
• Own and maintain LLM security controls, including guardrails and sensitive data redaction
• Develop and maintain AI agents for use in regulated life sciences environments
• Establish modern engineering practices including CI/CD, version control, and environment separation
• Conduct technical evaluations of AI vendors and Foundation Models
• Author technical documentation including architecture diagrams and validation deliverables
• Mentor junior engineers on AI projects

Requirements

• 10+ years of software or AI/ML engineering experience
• 1+ years of dedicated LLM-based application development
• Deep production experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) or equivalent agent integration patterns
• Practical experience with frontier models (Claude, GPT, Gemini)
• Strong software engineering fundamentals in Python and Git
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS (S3, Redshift, Bedrock)
• Knowledge of enterprise search services like OpenSearch or Elasticsearch

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant cloud and AI/ML certifications
• Knowledge of US regulatory requirements (21 CFR Part 11, GxP, HIPAA)
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or Engineering
