Principal Engineer Electrical - Dry Utilities

Responsibilities

• Oversee design, planning, and implementation of dry utility systems for infrastructure projects.
• Manage and lead design and approval processes, interfacing with project teams, clients, and stakeholders.
• Ensure strong understanding and application of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, UAE, KSA, and Qatar authority guidelines.
• Lead end-to-end utility corridor design from concept to detailed master plan, including ROW and coordination with wet, road, transportation, landscape, and building teams.
• Develop and review dry utilities master plan reports, perform demand load calculations, and ensure full understanding from concept to IFC stage.
• Manage infrastructure engineering requirements, grid stations, substation design (including up to 400kV), feeder pillars, service turrets, MV/LV networks.
• Design and review for both overhead and underground HV/MV/LV lines, their relocation, and protection.
• Oversee telecommunication network design, including ducts and manholes, as well as street lighting systems for all road types.
• Review technical deliverables against local authority requirements.
• Lead or attend client meetings, presentations, workshops, internal trainings, and provide technical support to graduate/engineer team members.
• Support digitalization, innovation, and process improvements.
• Manage geographically and culturally diverse teams, including Senior Engineers and CAD technicians.
• Contribute to multiple bids/proposals, including pricing, methodology, and options.
• Ensure quality and safety of deliverables, update risk and design assumption registers.
• Utilize AutoCAD Civil3D, ProjectWise, Infraworks, Navisworks, BIM, and electrical design software (ETAP, Amtech, Dialux, etc.).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• 15+ years experience in electrical engineering with at least 5 years in dry utility design/planning
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software and electrical design tools
• Extensive knowledge of electrical principles, codes, and standards for dry utilities
• Demonstrated leadership in engineering team management
• Experience with urban infrastructure planning and sustainable energy solutions
• Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong focus on deliverable quality and design safety
• Willingness to work in or adapt to the Dubai/UAE market

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Experience with RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) projects
• Previous leadership of multidisciplinary or international teams
