Principal, Global Event Security and Risk Management

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain understanding of environments and challenges facing Wikimedia volunteers globally to mitigate physical security risks
• Strengthen enterprise risk management approach, including policy development and implementation
• Lead risk and gap assessments to identify, document, and track high risks for the Foundation
• Lead risk assessments for community conferences and other Foundation-funded events
• Create and manage the implementation of emergency response plans for physical security threats
• Act as an on-call responder to review emergency alerts and lead response working groups during emergent situations
• Brief senior leadership on geopolitical trends and ongoing systems improvement
• Provide crisis support to internal teams working with at-risk communities

Requirements

• Substantial professional experience in corporate and physical security across various geographic and political contexts
• Substantial risk management experience, preferably in a leadership role
• Experience developing and executing emergency response plans
• Strong analytical skills to synthesize geopolitical trends and their impact on stakeholders
• Ability to remain calm and focused in ambiguous or high-risk situations
• Experience collaborating with subject-matter experts in threat modeling and contingency planning
• Proficiency with digital security tools for secure communication
• Flexibility to work irregular hours to respond to unanticipated situations across multiple time zones
• English fluency required; proficiency in Arabic, French, or Spanish is a plus
