Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve backend architecture to handle 10x growth while keeping operational complexity low
  • Optimize analytics and dashboard queries to return results under 2 seconds at scale
  • Build resilient, self-healing data and API systems to reduce on-call incidents
  • Lead technical decisions on databases, frameworks, and infrastructure choices (e.g., ClickHouse, PostgreSQL)
  • Mentor and enable engineers to be more productive through better tools, patterns, and reviews
  • Drive large data migrations, performance tuning, and cloud cost optimizations for long-term retention requirements
  • Collaborate with product, SRE, and compliance teams to deliver reliable, measurable outcomes

Requirements

  • 8+ years building production backend systems
  • Expert-level Python and API design (FastAPI or equivalent)
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with analytical databases
  • Proven experience with high-throughput data platforms and query optimization
  • Familiarity with Docker and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure)
  • Experience designing for observability, reliability, and low operational overhead
  • Ability to lead technical decision-making and mentor engineers
  • Located in the UAE and able to work hybrid from Dubai

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with ClickHouse, columnar analytics, or OLAP stores
  • Background with PostgreSQL performance tuning and large-scale migrations
  • Experience with Redis, caching strategies, and distributed systems patterns
  • History of delivering data retention and compliance solutions at scale
  • Prior leadership of 2+ engineers or technical leads
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
