Principal Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the standardization of Glide’s data sync and persistence infrastructure
• Drive integrations with data source platforms to accelerate customer data source availability
• Design, develop, and maintain a REST API into Glide’s data and core services
• Provide build, test, and runtime infrastructure to service teams
• Establish patterns for database throttling and request rate limiting
• Monitor infrastructure costs and coordinate improvements
• Drive SRE tooling and best practices around observability and alerting
• Cultivate an environment of empowerment, ownership, and belonging
• Conduct regular 1-on-1s and support career growth for team members
• Provide technical project management support to ensure well-scoped and delivered projects
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver roadmap items

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering management experience
• Experience building and maintaining highly available and scalable distributed systems
• Experience managing or building infrastructure, developer experience, data, API, or platform teams
• Deep understanding of Accelerate concepts (Lead Time, Deployment Frequency, MTTR, Change Failure Rate)
• Clear and effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with data source platforms like Supabase, Airtable, Firestore, Sequin, or Paragon
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform services (Cloud SQL, Cloud Run, AlloyDB)
• Experience scaling event-driven architecture using Apache Kafka or Cloud Pub/Sub
• Experience with telemetry and monitoring solutions like Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
