Project Geophysicist

Responsibilities

• Provide geophysical support to Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Engineering Development departments for both OBN (Ocean Bottom Nodes) & MTS (Marine Towed Streamer) activities.
• Ensure data quality assurance for surveys from initial tender through to delivery of final client deliverables.
• Support Sales by proposing alternative survey designs and reviewing acquisition tender requests; provide technical responses and project estimations.
• Support Marketing by contributing to company technical standing through publications, attending client meetings, presenting geophysical initiatives, and developing client relations.
• Support Operations by preparing project documentation, attending project meetings, reviewing reports, supporting problem dataset analysis, and assisting with procedures and standards.
• Propose and implement best practices and new technologies for QC processing offshore and geophysical support onshore.
• Ensure project quality by optimizing sequences/parameters and monitoring geophysical downtime.
• Support Engineering Development through technical studies on new technologies, planning and analyzing technology tests, and developing source/receiver configurations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of seismic data acquisition and processing technologies, administer project documentation, and manage department assets and software toolbox.

Requirements

• Expert knowledge of marine seismic acquisition methods and operational practices
• Strong experience in streamer vessels
• Expert knowledge of seismic QC products and workflows
• Solid understanding of seismic theory and its application
• Understanding of marine seismic acquisition technologies
• Competency with at least one industry standard seismic data processing package
• Competency with an industry standard survey planning package
• Degree (or higher) in Geoscience, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or extensive industry experience
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong team player with initiative and achievement-oriented
