Job description

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement marine field surveys, including biodiversity assessments, habitat mapping, and post-intervention monitoring
  • Conduct fieldwork in coastal and offshore environments, focusing on benthic habitats, seagrass ecosystems, and ghost gear retrieval
  • Apply scientific methodologies and manage ecological data using tools such as GPS, sonar, underwater cameras, and drones
  • Support project planning, including logistics, permitting, and coordination with external partners like research institutions and dive teams
  • Process and analyze ecological and spatial data to generate technical reports, baseline assessments, and impact evaluations
  • Support monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks to track ecological indicators and project progress
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including government entities and local fishing communities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Biology, Marine Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • 6–8 years of relevant experience in marine conservation, biodiversity assessment, or ecological research
  • Proven expertise in field survey design and implementation within marine environments
  • Experience with marine habitat mapping, seagrass ecosystems, or fisheries-related research
  • Proficiency in English; Arabic language proficiency is highly desirable
  • Ability to perform practical fieldwork in challenging offshore or coastal conditions
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into technical outputs
