Regulatory Legal Counsel

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on regulatory and policy issues related to the crypto industry and blockchain technology, with a focus on UAE and regional frameworks.
• Provide practical legal guidance on tech-related financial regulation, crypto matters, smart contracts and decentralized applications.
• Draft and review legal documents, commercial agreements, regulatory filings and policies for product, corporate, litigation and regulatory matters.
• Advise product, engineering and business teams on compliance and regulatory risk mitigation across crypto products and financial services.
• Engage and represent the company in negotiations and interactions with UAE regulators, policymakers and industry stakeholders.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments in the crypto and blockchain space and proactively share insights and recommendations with stakeholders.
• Support cross-functional initiatives to ensure regulatory readiness for launches and product changes.

Requirements

• UAE-qualified lawyer with right to practice in the UAE.
• 5-8 years post-qualification experience, with substantial exposure to financial regulation or regulatory affairs.
• Strong substantive understanding of blockchain technology, crypto markets and token mechanics.
• Proven drafting and communication skills; able to explain complex legal/technical issues to non-legal teams.
• Familiarity with financial products, licensing regimes and regulatory requirements relevant to crypto and payments.
• Experience engaging with regulators and managing regulatory submissions or reviews.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment and collaborate across teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and commercial judgment skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior in-house counsel experience at a crypto, fintech or regulated financial services firm.
• Experience advising on smart contracts, DeFi or token economics.
• Exposure to UAE Central Bank, ADGM, DIFC or other regional regulator engagements.
• Advanced degree or certifications in financial regulation, fintech or blockchain-related fields.
