About the Company

The European Payments Initiative (EPI) is building a new, proudly European payment system through Wero, a digital wallet designed to make sending and receiving money simple, seamless, and secure across Europe. Supported by major banks and acquirers, EPI aims to create an instant and transparent payment ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Steer controls by monitoring level 1 controls and supporting managers
• Design, plan, and perform level 2 controls using a risk-driven approach
• Monitor level 2 controls performed by the group DPO and CISO
• Identify, assess, and document risks in the risk register
• Maintain Key Risk Indicators (KRIs)
• Define and monitor risk mitigation plans
• Contribute to risk reporting for the Supervisory Board
• Monitor risk appetite thresholds and ensure mitigation actions are raised
• Support risk and internal control awareness and continuous improvement initiatives
• Liaise with stakeholders across the three lines of defense

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in Risk Management or Internal Control
• Experience in Payments, Banking, or FinTech preferred
• Understanding of risk management frameworks (e.g., COSO) and the Three Lines of Defense
• Experience working with senior stakeholders (Compliance, Operations, IT Security)
• Experience preparing risk dashboards and board-level reports
• Familiarity with regulatory environments
• Fluency in English (CEFR C1 or C2)
• Experience with Jira

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in French, German, Dutch, or other European languages
• Ability to thrive in a remote-first, multicultural environment
