Roku Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, code, test, and debug Roku applications using BrightScript and SceneGraph
• Optimize performance and memory usage for a wide range of Roku devices, including legacy models
• Integrate core Roku frameworks such as Advertising and Analytics
• Ensure compliance with Roku Channel Store submission requirements
• Work with video streaming and encoding technologies and open-source video libraries
• Collaborate with backend teams to integrate RESTful web services
• Participate in code reviews and technical troubleshooting sessions

Requirements

• Proven experience developing Roku applications using BrightScript and SceneGraph
• In-depth knowledge of the Roku device ecosystem and performance optimization
• Experience with core Roku frameworks and the Channel Store submission process
• Strong background in debugging, threading, and rendering in embedded systems
• Practical experience with RESTful web services
• Demonstrated experience with video streaming and encoding technologies
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Ability to pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Android TV or Apple TV development
• Knowledge of Kotlin, Java, Swift, or Objective-C
• Experience migrating applications to a universal backend
• Experience with Kaizen mobile platforms
