SD WAN Network Design Engineer (Tier 3)

Responsibilities

• Act as Technical Design Authority for complex customer projects from pre-sales to post-deployment support transition.
• Lead design and delivery of end-to-end SD-WAN and SASE solutions involving diverse underlay and overlay technologies.
• Engage in pre-sales activities, supporting solution engineers and sales teams with design guidance and vendor comparisons.
• Collaborate with support teams for high-priority escalations and advanced troubleshooting.
• Produce comprehensive technical documentation, including High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), test plans, and network diagrams.
• Conduct R&D testing on new SD-WAN, SSE/SASE vendors, technologies, and features.
• Support Service and Network Automation teams for platform integrations and feature development.
• Deliver customer solutions over Expereo's global IP backbone, leveraging advanced routing skills and service-provider network knowledge.
• Provide Day 1 post-deployment support, ensuring smooth transition to operational teams.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of routing and switching protocols: BGP, OSPF, IPsec, GRE, MPLS, IPv4/IPv6
• Professional-level certifications or equivalent expertise (CCNP, CCIE)
• Hands-on SD-WAN experience (VeloCloud preferred, Viptela, Cato, Meraki)
• Strong troubleshooting skills including use of Wireshark
• Experience in Day 1 deployment support
• Thorough Layer 2 networking knowledge (VLANs, dot1q)
• Familiarity with DNS, SSL, TCP/UDP
• Ability to navigate SD-WAN orchestrator workflows and configurations

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of ZTNA and SSE (Zscaler, Netskope, Cato)
• Experience with cloud networking/virtualization (AWS, Azure, VMware)
• Experience designing solutions involving multiple underlay/overlay technologies
• Experience with escalations and incident resolution
• Strong documentation skills: HLD, LLD, test plans, deployment guides
• Familiarity with observability tools (Grafana, InfluxDB)
• Exposure to REST APIs, scripting (Python, PowerShell)
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation platforms
• Awareness of current networking and security trends
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Team player, collaborative, eager learner
