Job description
Responsibilities
- Lead security audits of Espresso's distributed systems codebase
- Coordinate with engineering teams to raise concerns, communicate findings, and guide system hardening efforts
- Manage and review work of external security auditing teams
- Design and organize security audit processes with flexibility in approach
- Suggest improvements to testing and engineering practices for more secure, maintainable code
Requirements
- Solid software engineering principles, including low-level best practices and high-level distributed systems architecture
- Rust: ≥1 year async Rust experience, or Solidity: multiple years smart contract experience with security audits or formal verification
- Security audit or formal verification experience
- Security-critical industry experience as an engineer or architect
- Auditor, pentester, or QA tester background
- Adversarial thinking for vulnerability identification beyond happy-path scenarios
- Distributed systems design and testing experience
- Comfort diving into unknowns and asking questions
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of testing and static analysis tools (e.g., Foundry, Slither)
- Blockchain, IoT, automotive, or finance industry experience
- Philosophy of software design shaped by security-critical systems work
