Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products
• Propose and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows (spec → plan → execute → verify) to accelerate delivery
• Redesign engineering workflows to use autonomous agents as the default execution layer
• Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives within the codebase
• Maintain high quality through verification loops, including tests, checks, evals, and guardrails
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, and RFC discussions
• Collaborate with product teams to suggest technical improvements and solve complex business issues

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems
• Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows
• Strong systems thinking skills: ability to define specs, break down plans, and instrument verification
• Proficiency with Postgres (or similar relational databases)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
• Demonstrated AI fluency and strong automation capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Elixir and the Phoenix framework
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS)
• Familiarity with modern frontend technologies like React or Next.js
