Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products.
• Design, propose, and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows (spec → plan → execute → verify) to accelerate delivery.
• Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives within the codebase to enable cross-domain application.
• Maintain and contribute to a backend built with Elixir and Phoenix, ensuring high performance and scalability.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring other engineers, and participating in RFC discussions.
• Debug and solve complex technical and business issues while implementing interfaces with strong API design.

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows or comparable systems.
• Proficiency with Postgres (or similar relational databases).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Demonstrated AI fluency and strong automation capabilities.
• Ability to think in systems: defining clear specs, breaking down plans, and implementing verification loops.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS.
• Familiarity with frontend technologies such as React, Nextjs, Vue, or Angular.
