Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products
• Propose and operationalize agentic workflows end-to-end (spec → plan → execute → verify) to deliver outcomes faster
• Redesign engineering workflows with autonomous agents as the default execution layer
• Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives in the codebase for cross-domain application
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring other engineers, and participating in RFC discussions
• Maintain a deep understanding of the team's domain from both product and engineering perspectives
• Implement interfaces with a focus on performance, accessibility, and robust API design

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems
• Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows and improving them through iteration
• Demonstrated strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency
• Proficiency with Postgres (or similar relational databases)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar)
• Ability to think in systems: defining specs, breaking down plans, and implementing verification loops

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Elixir and the Phoenix framework
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS
• Familiarity with frontend technologies such as React, Nextjs, Vue, or Angular
