Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products.
• Propose and operationalize agentic workflows end-to-end (spec → plan → execute → verify) to deliver outcomes faster.
• Redesign engineering workflows using autonomous agents as the default execution layer.
• Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives within the codebase.
• Maintain high quality through code reviews, debugging, and implementing verification loops (tests, checks, evals, guardrails).
• Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers while contributing to the shared codebase.
• Collaborate with product teams to suggest technical improvements and solve business issues.

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows.
• Demonstrated strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency.
• Proficiency with Postgres (or similar relational databases).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar).
• Ability to think in systems: defining specs, breaking down plans, and instrumenting verification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS.
• Familiarity with frontend technologies such as React, Nextjs, Vue, or Angular.
