Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products.
• Propose and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows (spec → plan → execute → verify) to accelerate delivery.
• Redesign engineering workflows to use autonomous agents as the default execution layer.
• Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives within the codebase for cross-domain application.
• Maintain high quality through code reviews, debugging, and implementing verification loops (tests, evals, and guardrails).
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical discussions, RFCs, and platform improvements.

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows.
• High level of AI fluency and strong automation capabilities.
• Proficiency with Postgres (or similar relational databases).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins).
• Ability to think in systems: defining clear specs, breaking down complex plans, and closing the loop on quality.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks like React or Next.js.
