Senior Backend Engineer

ImagineArt is a bootstrapped GenAI platform serving image and video generation at real scale for Fortune 500 clients, generating $35M+ ARR. We focus on solving hard technical problems at the intersection of AI and scale without the VC treadmill.

Responsibilities

• Design and own backend systems handling high-throughput, asynchronous workloads including generation queues and media processing
• Architect for scale and reliability, making critical decisions on data flow, service boundaries, and failure handling
• Build and optimize async pipelines involving job queuing, retries, backpressure, and dead-letter handling
• Improve performance and cost efficiency at the infrastructure level for inference workloads
• Set technical direction and mentor the engineering team through code reviews

Requirements

• 5+ years of strong backend experience with ownership of production systems at scale
• Proven system design skills with the ability to defend architectural tradeoffs
• Hands-on experience with asynchronous pipelines and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, or similar)
• Experience working in high-concurrency, high-throughput environments
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, low-process, bootstrapped environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Go
• Exposure to ML/AI infrastructure, GPU workloads, or media processing pipelines
• Track record of contributing to open source projects
