Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects for HR and Payroll products
• Provide technical insights and suggest product improvements
• Maintain deep understanding of team domain and codebase
• Perform code reviews and mentor other engineers
• Debug and solve technical and business issues
• Redesign engineering workflows using autonomous agents and agentic workflows
• Build reusable agentic primitives and verification loops

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience shipping scalable production systems
• Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows
• Ability to think in systems and define clear specifications
• Proficiency with Postgres or similar databases
• Experience with CI/CD tools like GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins
• Strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with functional programming (Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, Haskell)
• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
• Experience with AWS
• Experience with Next.js, React, Vue, or Angular
