Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products
• Design, propose, and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows (spec → plan → execute → verify)
• Redesign engineering workflows to use autonomous agents as the default execution layer
• Build reusable agentic primitives and workflows to be applied across different domains
• Maintain high quality through verification loops, including tests, checks, evals, and guardrails
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, and contributing to the shared codebase
• Collaborate with product teams to suggest technical improvements and solve complex business issues

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems
• Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows
• Ability to think in systems: defining specs, breaking down plans, and instrumenting verification
• Proficiency with Postgres (or similar relational databases)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, etc.)
• Demonstrated AI fluency and strong automation capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with functional programming languages such as Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, or Haskell
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS)
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks like React, Next.js, Vue, or Angular
