Senior Backend Specialist

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve high-impact back-end platforms and tools for the DevEx & Dev Tools division
• Technically lead initiatives affecting multiple engineering teams, ensuring end-to-end quality, scalability, and reliability
• Contribute to squad architectural decisions and domain platform standards
• Translate complex engineering problems into simple, well-founded solutions aligned with long-term platform vision
• Define development standards and best practices for other teams to adopt
• Communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Act as a technical reference through code reviews, technical documentation, and architectural contributions
• Proactively collaborate with multiple engineering squads to identify systemic improvements in developer experience

Requirements

• Robust experience in back-end development including APIs, microservices, and large-scale distributed systems
• Proficiency in at least one high-performance back-end language (Go, Java, Kotlin, Python, or similar)
• Experience building internal platforms, Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs), Developer Tooling, or DevEx products
• Strong understanding of system design, API modeling, resilience strategies, eventual consistency, and distributed caching
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and modeling for high availability and performance
• Mastery of observability, including metrics, distributed traces, alerts, and diagnosing complex system failures
• Proven track record of architectural contributions with impact beyond the immediate squad
• Ability to transform ambiguous requirements and scaling problems into well-founded technical solutions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating AI/LLMs in production (OpenAI, Anthropic, Vertex AI), including prompt management, rate limits, and latency control
• Experience with AI agents, intelligent automation pipelines, or LLM-based workflow orchestration
• Deep understanding of LLM architecture (transformers, attention mechanisms, RAG, fine-tuning)
• Experience with operational automation, platform engineering, or SRE applied to development platforms
• Knowledge of security in distributed systems, including authentication/authorization, secret management, and zero-trust networking
• Experience with self-service platform products such as developer portals or automated deployment pipelines
