Senior Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain robust ETL/ELT data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks and Fabric.
• Develop scalable analytics platforms and data lakes/warehouses (Azure Synapse where applicable).
• Write, tune and maintain complex SQL queries and database objects to support reporting and analytics.
• Implement Python-based data processing, automation and transformation workflows (Pandas, NumPy).
• Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) and deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and business stakeholders; provide client-facing support for UAE-based engagements.
• Troubleshoot data pipeline issues, ensure data quality, governance and compliance with enterprise standards.
• Document architectures, processes, pipelines and runbooks; drive continuous improvement and adopt Azure best practices (e.g., Purview).

Requirements

• Location: Dubai, UAE (must be able to operate from Dubai/have UAE work eligibility)
• Minimum 6+ years relevant data engineering experience
• Mandatory: Azure Databricks and Fabric
• Mandatory: Azure Data Factory and strong SQL expertise
• Mandatory: Finance or Insurance domain experience
• Strong Python for data engineering (Pandas, NumPy, scripting)
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing and lake architectures
• Proven client-facing experience and strong communication skills
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD and data governance processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on with Azure Synapse Analytics
• Exposure to IDMC or similar enterprise data integration tools
• Certifications in Azure Data Engineering or related cloud/data disciplines
• Experience with Azure Purview or data cataloguing tools
• Prior consulting experience delivering solutions to finance/insurance clients
