Senior Director, Finance

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close process end-to-end and direct external bookkeeping activities
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for the Finance Committee and Board
• Maintain grant-level financial tracking and ensure GAAP compliance
• Manage the annual audit process and resolve audit findings
• Oversee the outsourced accounting firm and lead vendor transitions
• Partner on the annual budget process and maintain cash flow forecasts
• Manage fiscal sponsorship financial reporting and fund isolation
• Design and maintain internal controls and oversee disbursement workflows

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressively responsible finance or accounting experience
• At least 3 years in a senior role with direct audit and close ownership
• Deep working knowledge of ASC 958 (net asset classification, donor restrictions)
• Hands-on experience leading annual audits and managing auditor relationships
• Experience managing external accounting or bookkeeping vendors
• Proficiency in multi-fund or multi-entity accounting environments
• Working proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO)
• Familiarity with fiscal sponsorship structures

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA, MBA, or equivalent credential
• Experience managing fiscally sponsored project reporting and funder compliance
• Experience supporting Finance Committee or board-level reporting
• Exposure to AI-powered finance workflow tools
