Job description

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and engineering of electrical switchgear systems, including medium and low voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, and control panels
  • Create bills of materials for critical design components and review electrical drawings for manufacture
  • Develop detailed electrical schematics and layout drawings according to client specifications
  • Oversee the integration of switchgear with power distribution and control systems
  • Provide expert guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff
  • Manage switchgear design projects from concept to completion, including budgeting and scheduling
  • Ensure all designs meet industry standards such as IEC, ANSI, UL, and IEEE
  • Conduct testing and validation of switchgear systems and create test scripts for control schemes
  • Identify and implement improvements in switchgear design and control systems
  • Interface with clients to understand needs and provide technical solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in electrical design with a focus on switchgear and control systems
  • Proficiency with electrical design software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or ETAP
  • Expert knowledge in switchgear design, electrical protection systems, and control panel design
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Proven project management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience with advanced switchgear technologies and smart grid systems
  • Knowledge of digital substations and IoT applications
