Senior Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product and tech leads to set technical direction and run delivery
• Manage a team of backend, frontend, and QA engineers
• Turn requirements into well-scoped, sequenced work and set delivery milestones
• Set technical vision and own the team's technical roadmap, including tech debt
• Maintain engineering quality standards through PR checklists, test coverage, and monitoring
• Conduct regular 1:1s, coaching, performance reviews, and headcount planning

Requirements

• Advanced-level English skills (speaking and writing)
• At least 3 years of experience managing a team of 5-15 people
• 5+ years of experience as an individual contributor software engineer
• 3+ years of experience as a Senior Engineer on web backends using Java/Spring or similar
• Demonstrated experience in Lean/Agile management practices
• Proven track record of delivering large projects successfully

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing engineering teams at startups during rapid growth
• Experience implementing engineering practices like code reviews and performance ladders
• Experience managing remote or partially remote teams
• Experience designing and operating critical systems
• Hands-on experience with Metabase and Datadog
