Responsibilities

  • Foster a supportive team environment and ensure diverse voices are heard
  • Guide team members with structured development techniques
  • Coach engineers in software engineering and evolvable software architecture
  • Own technical decisions and collaborate with the team on complex problems
  • Lead long-term technical strategy for the Wikimedia Enterprise team
  • Participate in hiring with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Partner with peers on cross-team delivery and organizational updates
  • Facilitate product technical strategy and roadmap setting
  • Supervise budget and staffing

Requirements

  • Expertise in B2B environments with high and unpredictable scale
  • History of developing high productivity engineering teams
  • Experience managing teams with tight SLAs
  • Experience supporting complex web applications on AWS or similar cloud platforms
  • Experience with Kafka or similar distributed event processing systems
  • Experience with Node.js, Go, and PHP applications
  • Proficiency with configuration management and orchestration tools like ECS or Kubernetes
  • Experience with modern observability infrastructure
  • BS/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Wikipedia, wikitext, or markdown
  • Experience with content management systems like MediaWiki, Drupal, or WordPress
  • Experience with service-based and streaming architectures
