Senior Legal Counsel

Responsibilities

• Analyze current and forthcoming regulations related to marketing, customization, and fundraising initiatives
• Collaborate with lawyers and public policy professionals to address the impact of Generative AI
• Identify and execute opportunities to advance the Wikimedia mission within shifting technological landscapes
• Support Product and Engineering teams in developing data governance models and maintaining high privacy standards

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school or equivalent foreign degree
• Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
• 5-7 years of experience with legal review of go-to-market, fundraising, or technical products
• Experience advising a user-facing digital technology or internet company on product, privacy, and marketing law
• Significant experience working as a counselor to engineering teams
• Full fluency in written and spoken English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with marketing, fundraising, campaign customization, and online communities
• Degree or work experience in marketing, computer science, or engineering
• Experience living or working outside the United States or working on international legal issues
