Senior Manager, Data Science

Responsibilities

• Own high-impact data science work across product data science and fair play, building novel algorithms and models to shape the user experience.
• Design and deploy creative heuristics and models to identify cheating at scale using statistical and data science toolkits.
• Manage a lean team of data scientists, turning strategy into clear objectives and providing feedback to help teammates grow.
• Partner with product managers, engineers, and designers to translate data findings into product vision and execution.
• Communicate proactively in a fully remote environment, surfacing blockers and keeping stakeholders informed.

Requirements

• 5+ years of data science experience with a track record of developing models that drive real user value.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, including experience with BigQuery and GCP or similar cloud environments.
• Experience managing or meaningfully mentoring other data scientists or analysts.
• Solid machine learning fundamentals, including experience with anomaly detection or similar applications.
• Proficiency with agentic workflows and tools (such as Cursor or Claude Code) to accelerate research and execution.
• Proven ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep familiarity with chess, including an interest in rating systems or cheating detection.
• Experience working on a consumer gaming or entertainment platform.
• Comfort working in lean, high-ownership, and proactive team environments.
