Senior Product Designer

Responsibilities

• Build FORT's design foundation from scratch including design system, interaction model, and component library
• Design the physical interaction layer of FORT hardware including button layout, LED signaling, and tactile feedback
• Define human-robot interaction (HRI) patterns for monitoring and intervening in autonomous systems
• Design AI-forward workflows such as AI Assistant interfaces and fleet observability dashboards
• Conduct field research with industrial operators and OEM engineers in real deployment environments
• Map end-to-end platform journeys across floor operators, integration engineers, and fleet administrators
• Partner with Product, Firmware, Software, Hardware, and Operations teams to translate technical constraints into design decisions

Requirements

• 5+ years of product or interaction design experience
• 2+ years in hardware-software combined environments, robotics, IoT, industrial automation, or automotive
• Proven experience building a design system or component library from scratch
• Experience in physical interaction design for hardware state and safety communication
• Experience conducting field research, contextual inquiry, or usability testing in real-world environments
• Proficiency in Figma and Claude
• AI-first approach to design, prototyping, and research synthesis

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in safety-critical or regulated product environments
• Background in human-robot interaction or autonomous systems
• Familiarity with front-end basics like HTML/CSS
