Senior Product Engineer (Backend)

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend systems for pension and retirement savings products, including contribution flows, onboarding, and provider integrations
• Own technical architecture decisions for the Investments stream
• Integrate with external pension and savings providers, building robust, well-tested integrations
• Collaborate with Product, frontend engineers, and the broader integrations team to deliver seamless end-to-end features
• Improve system stability and observability through continuous refinement
• Contribute to code reviews, technical planning, and a culture of high standards
• Provide technical leadership as the Investments team scales

Requirements

• 6+ years building backend systems in production using .NET 8, PostgreSQL, and Azure
• Experience designing and maintaining third-party API integrations
• Strong data modeling skills and experience with event-driven patterns
• Cloud infrastructure ownership with Azure or AWS
• Deep focus on reliability, security, and compliance in financial systems
• Product design initiative with ability to make decisions beyond backend APIs
• Comfort with ambiguity and ownership in a fast-growing startup
• AI-forward mindset with curiosity about evolving engineering practices
