Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

About the Company

Field Materials is a startup building the commerce and financial technology backbone of the construction industry. Founded by serial entrepreneurs, the company aims to digitize and democratize construction material purchasing through modern cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Build high-performance micro-services and APIs
• Design and maintain large, scalable, and performant production systems
• Develop systems from the ground up using modern cloud infrastructure (AWS)
• Iterate on products based on evolving customer feedback and specifications

Requirements

• BS or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field
• 2-5+ years of production-level experience in Go, Java, Scala, or C++
• Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures
• Experience working with SQL databases
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems
• Experience with data serialization protocols (protobufs) and stream processing (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Go
• Experience with GraphQL
