Senior Software Engineer - Backend

Responsibilities

• Work within the Search and EVAL teams on high-complexity technical problems
• Address ranking, relevance, experimentation, and user behavior optimization
• Collaborate with engineering leadership and product teams on search experience
• Contribute to technical conception and delivery of APIs and high-volume systems
• Integrate AI tools and applications into the development workflow and product features

Requirements

• Solid experience in backend development (Python, Go, or similar)
• Familiarity with REST APIs and asynchronous communication (queues, events)
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
• Ability to work with distributed systems and high-scale environments
• Strong analytical capacity with comfort in experimentation and data-driven optimization
• Effective technical communication and collaborative mindset
• Fluent and intense use of AI in development (automation, code generation, agents)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with high-volume systems or messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Experience with observability, monitoring, and reliability (SRE mindset)
• Experience with LLMs or integrating AI models into products
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (GCP or AWS)
• Experience with search systems (Elasticsearch or similar)
• Academic background (Master's or PhD)
• History of publications or applied research projects
