Senior Software Engineer - Backend

Responsibilities

• Define, measure, and improve SLOs/SLAs and error budgets for critical services
• Help evolve and scale the platform to keep pace with a growing customer base and rising request volumes
• Spot weak points, risky patterns, and capacity limits early to address them before they affect customers
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and lead incident response, including blameless postmortems
• Own observability across dashboards, alerting, tracing, and logging using Datadog
• Design, build, and ship new product features end-to-end across Java/Spring Boot microservices
• Balance feature delivery with continuous improvement and collaboration with product teams

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and operating modern distributed backend services
• Proficiency with Java/Spring Boot stack, AWS, Kafka, and PostgreSQL
• Track record with high-availability systems and scaling systems under load
• Fluency with modern observability stacks and SLO/SLA thinking
• Proactive ownership mindset and ability to own features from design to delivery
• Proven experience using AI effectively as an engineering tool

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in payments, card issuing, or transaction processing
• Experience with PCI DSS certification or environments
• Exposure to fraud detection or prevention
• Experience with chaos/resilience testing, capacity planning, or load testing
• Experience with safe deployment practices like canary or blue/green deployments
