Senior Software Engineer II

About the Company

Freenome is on a mission to enable scientific innovation and data intelligence through the commercial launch of lifesaving multi-cancer detection blood tests. The Platform team builds the multi-tenant infrastructure, data lakehouse, and scalable compute environments that power the company's R&D and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end projects and impactful platform initiatives for R&D and business intelligence
• Partner with engineers, scientists, and product managers to build common solutions
• Design and ship platform architecture components for multi-tenancy, data governance, and scaling
• Contribute to the growth of Data Lakehouse platforms and Research Platforms
• Integrate open-source, enterprise, and SaaS technologies into the evolving stack
• Advocate for a product mindset focused on developer effectiveness and usability
• Support platform users by troubleshooting issues and unblocking critical work

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building and operating highly reliable production software systems
• Proficiency with Python and other high-level programming languages
• Strong knowledge of Linux fundamentals, networking, and containerization
• Hands-on experience with cloud services (Azure or GCP preferred) using IaC
• Operational experience managing large Kubernetes clusters
• BS or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field
• Excellent communication and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with columnar data processing and open lakehouse technologies
• Experience supporting researchers, data scientists, or AI/ML teams
• Familiarity with Flyte or other modern workflow orchestrators
• Experience with an "Everything as Code" approach to infrastructure and data
• Experience operating production systems in Microsoft Azure
• Open-source contribution and maintenance experience
