Senior Software Engineer

Vetcove is modernizing the animal health industry by providing veterinary organizations with advanced procurement marketplaces, ecommerce experiences, and practice management systems. Backed by Y Combinator, we support over 25,000 hospitals across the United States.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the conceptualization and feature documentation of new ideas and product enhancements
• Build and extend interactive React applications for veterinary purchasers and manufacturers
• Add comprehensive test coverage to ensure system integrity
• Build reusable components for use by the larger engineering team
• Implement new features into React Native mobile applications
• Work directly with the CTO and cross-functional teams to evolve the platform

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in web applications
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
• High proficiency in at least one industry-common programming language
• Experience building production applications using modern web frameworks
• Ability to design features around data models with a focus on security and performance
• Experience working with databases and query optimization
• Fluency with JavaScript features (prototype and functional)
• Experience with backend languages, ORMs, and writing API endpoints
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Startup work experience
• Experience with Python, Django, or React Native
