Senior Technical Data Security Architect

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain end-to-end data security architecture across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, and Databricks Lakehouse.
• Define and enforce enterprise data classification, labeling, and handling standards using Microsoft Purview.
• Architect and implement Unity Catalog for enterprise-wide data governance and fine-grained access control.
• Design RBAC and ABAC strategies across Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Azure SQL.
• Oversee encryption strategies including Azure Key Vault and customer-managed keys.
• Ensure data platform compliance with regulatory frameworks like GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and SOC 2.
• Lead security architecture reviews and mentor junior engineers and architects.
• Collaborate with SecOps to build data-specific detection rules and incident response playbooks.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, architecture, or information security.
• 5+ years focused specifically on data security architecture.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft Azure data services (ADLS Gen2, Synapse, Data Factory, Fabric).
• Demonstrated expertise in Databricks Unity Catalog and workspace security.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Purview and Azure identity management (Entra ID, PIM).
• Experience securing data workloads in multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake data security models.
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language (Python, PySpark, PowerShell, or Terraform).
• Experience with regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI-DSS).

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500) or Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203).
• Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional or CISSP/CISM certifications.
• Experience with Microsoft Sentinel for SIEM integration.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep).
• Exposure to AI/ML security and responsible AI frameworks.
