Senior Technical Designer

Responsibilities

• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve issues in existing gameplay systems including combat, progression, and abilities
• Improve the reliability, stability, and maintainability of complex interconnected systems
• Design, implement, and tune gameplay systems and features to support player experience
• Prototype gameplay features directly in engine using scripting or visual scripting
• Create technical design documentation, specs, and logic flows
• Work closely with engineering and design to bridge design intent with technical implementation
• Identify technical risks and constraints early to shape high-quality solutions

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in technical design, systems design, or game design on shipped games
• Strong understanding of top-down action RPGs, itemization, and progression
• Hands-on experience debugging and tuning gameplay systems
• Experience implementing features in-engine using scripting or visual scripting
• Familiarity with Unreal, Unity, or similar game engines
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct ARPG development experience
• Experience supporting live games or systems requiring long-term iteration
• Familiarity with balance tuning, gameplay metrics, and data-informed design
• Experience improving internal workflows and iteration speed
