Job description

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and tune gameplay systems, features, and content supporting combat and progression
  • Prototype gameplay features and systems directly in engine using scripting or design tools
  • Bridge design intent with technical implementation by working closely with engineering
  • Create and maintain technical design documentation, feature specs, and logic flows
  • Identify technical constraints and help shape production-friendly design solutions
  • Support implementation and upkeep of gameplay content through tuning and debugging
  • Collaborate with UI, engineering, and production to ensure polished player experiences
  • Analyze gameplay feedback and live data to drive system iteration

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in technical design, systems design, or game design on shipped games
  • Deep understanding of top-down action RPG systems, itemization, and character progression
  • Experience implementing gameplay features directly in engine via scripting or visual scripting
  • Strong understanding of combat, balance, and player-facing mechanics
  • Ability to communicate through technical documentation and cross-disciplinary collaboration
  • Proficiency with Unreal, Unity, or similar game development engines
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct ARPG development experience
  • Experience supporting live games or systems requiring long-term iteration
  • Familiarity with balance tuning, data-driven design, and gameplay metrics
  • Experience building internal workflows to improve iteration speed
