Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable Ruby on Rails applications based in Dubai (hybrid)
  • Own backend architecture, API design, performance optimization and security standards
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs and background job systems
  • Write clean, testable and maintainable code following Rails best practices
  • Review pull requests, enforce coding standards and mentor junior engineers
  • Translate customer requirements into sprint-ready user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Participate in customer calls, demos and technical discussions; build technical trust with stakeholders
  • Drive sprint commitments to Done, break down epics into sprint-sized stories and unblock delivery
  • Partner with Product, QA and DevOps to ensure predictable sprint closure and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • 7+ years Ruby on Rails experience
  • Strong proficiency in Ruby and Rails
  • PostgreSQL / MySQL expertise
  • REST API design and development
  • Background jobs (Sidekiq) and Redis experience
  • Test frameworks (RSpec) knowledge
  • CI/CD pipeline hands-on experience
  • Caching and performance optimization skills
  • Solid understanding of Agile / Scrum delivery
  • Client-facing and stakeholder communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading engineering teams and mentoring senior/medior engineers
  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms
  • Prior delivery for enterprise or SaaS customers
  • Experience with observability, monitoring and deployment automation
  • Exposure to security best practices and data protection for production systems
