Senior WordPress Engineer

Responsibilities

• Contribute to estimations, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Planning, and Sprint Review Meetings
• Adhere to Agile Scrum Methodologies and organizational processes
• Shape technical direction in collaboration with teammates, balancing client needs and scalability
• Review and write unit, integration, and regression tests
• Conduct architectural peer reviews and set up build/test environments
• Implement CI/CD workflows with Github Actions and Docker local development environments
• Monitor and optimize application performance using Sentry, New Relic, and Lighthouse
• Develop custom WordPress plugins, React-based Blocks, and performant SQL queries
• Maintain plugins and themes that meet WordPress VIP coding standards

Requirements

• Extensive experience with PHP, WordPress, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
• Experience building complex custom WordPress plugins and themes from scratch
• Experience building custom Gutenberg blocks and Block Editor extensions
• Experience developing for enterprise platforms like WordPress VIP
• Proficiency with PHPUnit, PHPStan, Playwright, NPM, and Composer
• Experience with Object Oriented Programming and REST API
• Ability to operate dependably in a fully remote role

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with performance monitoring and error tracking tools
• Active exploration of AI tools to improve productivity and code quality
