Site Reliability Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Generate monitoring and observability recommendations through analysis of HPIs/CPIs
• Perform enterprise-level triage and incident resolution within VA system infrastructure
• Use modern system monitoring tools to improve enterprise reliability and service quality
• Work with system and application owners to diagnose outages and recommend reliability changes
• Investigate issues across enterprise applications and technology stacks by partnering with DevOps, event management, and network teams
• Collaborate with developers and identity and access teams for deep technical investigations
• Utilize tools like SolarWinds, Dynatrace, and Splunk to identify reliability concerns

Requirements

• 3+ years expertise in two or more tools: Dynatrace, Splunk, SolarWinds, or ServiceNow Operator Workspace
• Extensive experience in one or more areas: Network, Windows, Desktop, Unix/Linux, AWS/Azure, WebSphere, Java/JS, or Microsoft/Oracle Database
• 8+ years experience with IT system operability, reliability, and application performance indicators
• 8+ years experience deploying and troubleshooting complex enterprise-scale applications
• 1+ years experience in service virtualization, AWS/Azure Cloud, SaaS, or PaaS implementation
• 2+ years experience independently leading a team to solve technical challenges
• HS diploma with 20+ years relevant experience OR MA/MS in Computer Science/Engineering with 10+ years relevant experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with test-driven development, distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native applications
• Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager, Riverbed – Aternity, or ServiceNow VTBs
• Strong critical thinking and error assessment capabilities
• Virtual team management experience
• Public Trust Clearance
