Software Engineer III

Responsibilities

• Own feature development end-to-end from technical design through delivery
• Write high-quality, idiomatic, and performant Ruby code
• Contribute to architectural decisions regarding data modeling and API design
• Build and maintain integrations with Customer Data Platforms and marketing automation tools
• Improve data reliability and pipeline performance
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers through code reviews and pairing
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Data, and Product teams
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response
• Document technical decisions and integration patterns

Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience
• Significant experience building Ruby on Rails applications
• Hands-on experience with Customer Data Platforms (e.g., Rudderstack, Segment, mParticle)
• Experience integrating with marketing automation platforms via API (e.g., Braze, Iterable, Klaviyo)
• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
• Solid understanding of data engineering fundamentals and pipeline design
• Experience with testing frameworks like RSpec or Minitest
• Familiarity with Sidekiq, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Strong written communication skills for a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools or agentic coding workflows
• Background in data engineering with tools like dbt, Spark, or Airflow
• Experience building user segmentation or audience management systems
• Knowledge of identity resolution concepts
• Experience supporting marketing experimentation (A/B tests, holdout groups)
• Understanding of data compliance (CAN-SPAM, TCPA, CCPA)
