Software Engineer

OpenSesame is disrupting the workforce development industry, leveraging an AI-powered marketplace of more than 50,000 skills courses, complemented by assessments, content authoring, curation, personalized learning pathways, and virtual coaching.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the growth and success of OpenSesame’s eLearning platform
• Collaborate with teammates through Extreme Programming (XP) practices, including TDD, continuous deployment, and evolutionary design
• Work across the full stack in modern TypeScript, Node.js, and React environments
• Maintain and modernize legacy systems using PHP, Drupal, and Angular
• Participate in pairing and mobbing sessions to learn the product and development environment
• Engage in agile ceremonies, retrospectives, and discussions
• Participate in on-call rotations and release management

Requirements

• Professional or project-based experience in software engineering
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals
• Ability to work within U.S.-aligned time zones
• Experience or strong motivation to work with TypeScript, Node.js, and React
• Familiarity with or willingness to learn PHP, Drupal, and Angular
• Understanding of test-driven development (TDD)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Terraform or infrastructure concepts
• Familiarity with Extreme Programming (XP) practices
• Experience with sociable unit tests and narrow integration tests
